a. Note:   [zagger.ged] George enjoyed fishing and, horseshoes, hunting and playing cards. He played the flute and violin, accompanied by his father, John on the accordion, at many barn dances and parties. George was also on the St. John's lutheran Church school board, church board and church building committee. George and Nellie farmed on the farm purchased by his grandfather, Carl Hartmann, from 1924 to 1955, having purchased it from his father, John Hartman. They sold it to their son Gordon in 1955.
