a. Note:   Cival War pension files of Wm. H. Berger; Application for Pension No. 110,293; January 8, 1867 '...William H. Berger was enrolled on the 7th day of Oct, 1863, at 13th Dist Pa in Co. F, 148th Regiment of Penna Volunteers, to serve 3 years, or during the war, and mustered into service as a Pri [Sub] on the 7th day of Oct 1863, at 13th Dist Pa, in Co. F, 148th Regiment of Penna Volunteers, to serve 3 years or during the war. On the Muser Roll of Co. F, of that Regiment, for the months of May + June 1863, he is reported wounded May 10th 1864 at the battle of Po River. Later, he is marked absent at Hospital. Pension records also state he was "On the Muster Out Roll of Co G 53rd P. V. to which Co and Regt he was transferred he is reported 'Discharged June 16' 1865 by virtue of G. O. 26" Was living at the home of his son, Charles F., at the end of his life and died there in the care of his his granddaughter, Dorothy.
