Note: Cival War pension files of Jacob J. Berger; October 10, 1883 "Jacob J. Berger, a Pvt. Sub. of Company F, 148th Regiment Penna Volunteers, was enrolled on the 9th day of Oct, 1863, at Danville Pa.,and is reported: On rolls from enrollment to April 30, 1864. Present, June 30, 64. Missing - supposed to be taken prisoner by the enemy June 22, 1864. Co. was in action at Petersburg said date. Same to Oct 31, 64. Feby 28, 1865, Died at Baltimore of chronic diarrhoea Nov 28, 1864, (a paroled prisoner at time of death)." "Prisoner of War records show him captured at Petersburg Va. June 22d, 64, conf'd at Richmond, Va, June 25th, 64, Sent to Lynchburg, Va, June 29th, 64, paroled at Savanah, Ga, November 19th, 1864; Admitted to Hosp'l Div No 1 Annap, Md., Nov 25, 64, and died as above."
