Notes

Note: Ferderick Zehler came to America with his family in 1856. In 1872, he married Alice Perry who lived on the neighboring farm. Frederick Zehler was Catholic and Alice was a Protestant. Apparently because of their differing religions, Frederick and Alice moved to Big Rapids, Michigan where his brothers John and Mathias lived. Fred and Alice had only one child who was born in Big Rapids. Fred died of an infection at the age of 27. Alice and her son then moved back to Bennington, New York to live with parents.
