Note: Mathias Zehler, known throughout his life as Martin, came to America with his parents in 1856. In 1867 he married Maria Veit at Sheldon, New York. About 1871, Martin and his wife had moved to Big Rapids, Michigan. Then in 1873, he sold his house to his brother Frederich and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he lived the remainder of his life.
