(source: Frank Black) Alexander Black was born 5 March 1821 in Knockando, Morayshire. He married Janet Hendry on the 2nd July 1842 in Elgin, Morayshire. Janet was the daughter of Alexander Hendry and Elspeth Anderson, and was born on 18 December 1819 in Forres. By the 1881 census Alexander and family were living at 47 Harmony Row, Govan, Glasgow, where he is listed as a boilermaker. At his death (aged 64 years) on the 20 February 1886, he was listed as an Iron Ship fitter. Jessie died on the 10 August 1894 at 5 Barony Street Glasgow aged 74 years.
