My James was my GG Grandfather. He married Elizabeth Adams (b.1827, Cutcombe, Somerset). They married at Selworthy on 28.4.1849, and came to Australia aboard the "John Knox" in 1851. James died in 1869, and Elizabeth remarried a fellow by the name of James Jewell. Look forward to hearing from you. James was the 2nd youngest of 11 children. Elizabeth was a dress maker by trade.Within 2 years of marrying, James & Elizabeth emigrated to Australia travelling aboard the "John Knox". They initially lived at Darebin Creek on the outskirts of Melbourne. They had their first 2 children there before moving to Gold Mining areas of first Bendigo & then Ballarat. They had 9 children of whom 3 died in infancy - Bessie (8 days), Charles (7 days),& Lucy (1 day). Eliza died when she was 19 years old. in 1869, the same year that their youngest son George was born, James died aged 43 years old. Elizabeth was then 42. They had 6 living children at the time - Tom 15, James 13, Eliza 10, Henry 5, Jonathon 3 & new baby George. Elizabeth remarried 3 years later & had one more child Alice in 1873. Elizabeth lived to be 83 years old re Catherine McNamara
