Note: (per St. Casimir baptismal records) Helena was born 1-18-1898, baptized 1-30-1898. Godparents were Franciscus (Frank) Modrzejewski / Josepha (Josephine) Jaranowska. (per Jackie Hayes) Frank Modrzejewski was the godfather. I had no trouble finding this guy. It is interesting that in 1910 he lived next to Frank Munda & Martha Marshall Munda. Josephine Jaranowski is the daughter of Joseph & Katarzyna Zasada and Frank's first cousin. (per Trudy Burns) "Well maybe the name Zasada sounds familiar to me if they were active in the American Legion Post 330 in Calumet City. I worked there for about 17 years with my dad. I was born and raised in Calumet City. I had found some familiar names in your family tree. My dad and uncle were friends with the Jaranowski's. I went to school with Miotke's and Nitz's. I will probably find more names that I know as I look more. My family had lived on 154th St or Pl and other streets in that area of Calumet City from 1900 to 1930 in the census. I am sure at least our families had known one another. I will let you know if I come across anyone that could be in my family tree. Thank you for telling me about your family tree." "I was born and raised in Calumet City. My gr-gr-grandfather was Frank Modrzejewski. I have my tree on ancestry.com. His daughter Josephine was my gr-grandmother. The family always lived around 154th and 156th and they all belonged to St. Andrews. The name was shortened to Modjeski. My dad and uncle grew up with John Jaranowski and Marty Jaranowski. And my grandfather was friends with John Sr. Some old stories came from my grandfather about old Calumet City days. I don't think our families are connected or could be by marriage somehow." After her first vows, Sister was sent to Pittsburgh, and then after 18 years in two Chicago schools -- St. Hedwig and St. Ann -- and St. Stanislaus School in South Bend, IN, Sister devoted several years in hospital work in Texas and New Mexico. Sixteen of the last eighteen years of service were fulfilled in the two convents in Harvey -- St. John's and St. Susanna's."
