Note: (per Gene Bielinski) Walter F. Zasada, Born: October 11, 1904, Wisconsin births Volume 383, page 83 to Frank Zasada and Francis Daniel, both parents were born in Germany and they lived at 919 5th Ave. in Milwaukee, WI (per Archdiocese of Milwaukee) Wladyslaw Zasada was baptized on October 16, 1904 at St. Cyril & Methodius Church, Milwaukee, WI by Rev. Louis BA Jurasinski. Oddly his mother's name was listed as France Stachowska. Godparents were Wlad. Kempski and Helena Talar. (per Jackie Hayes) You also had some concerns over the surname given for Frances on the baptism record of Walter in 1904. I am not overly concerned about it for several reasons. We know that there were only two Frank Zasadas in Milwaukee at that time. One had a wife named Mary - YOURS had the wife name Frances. Also, look at the maiden name of Frances Daniel Zasada's mother - Staszynska. Then look at Stachowska. I am thinking about how many times I have seen the letter "n" (lowercase) mistaken for a "w" back in those early days because of angular handwriting. Assuming that happened you have the first three letters and the last four letters of both names exactly the same. That leaves the middle three at odds. SZY vs. CHO. I am wondering if it might simply be a matter of writing something as it is heard as opposed to how it should be written. Could things have been interpretted incorrectly and somehow Frances' mother's maiden name was mistaken for hers? I also noticed that there was a small time gap between Walter being born and baptised. Back then the poor woman had the baby and whisked it to the church in a day or two to have it baptised. They feared the child dying in mortal sin. I am wondering if Frances might have hard a hard time giving birth and possibly even stayed home while her husband took the baby to the church. This could explain a mix up in Frances' name. Someone else provided the info to the church and an incorrect name was used. (per obit on file) Home: 218 154th Place, Calumet City, IL. Funeral at St. Andrew Church, Calumet City, IL.
