Note: (per St. Andrew church) Baptized on April 4, 1912 at St. Andrew the Apostle church in Calumet City. Godparents were Val Jaranowski and Josephine Luczak (spelling unclear in archives). Godfather Val Jaranowski is the husband of John's first cousin once removed, Josephine Zasada-Jaranowski. This is probably the godmother... (per Jackie Hayes) In 1910 Valentine Luszak, age 62 and his wife Josepha, age 52, are living at 220 154th Place (ED#1544, Sheet 10B). This is his second marriage but her first. They've been married for 29 years (so married c. 1881). They were both born in Ger (Pol) and immigrated in 1885. Obviously they married in Europe. Josepha states that she has never had any children. I couldn't find either Valentine or Josephine after 1910 though. I wonder what happened to them. I checked the IL Death Index with no luck. Oh well, they weren't exactly spring chickens in 1910 - perhaps the flu pandemic got them both. Josephine Luszak was a little bit older than Frank & Frances but not alarmingly so. (per John's daughter) "The census said that many of the children living at home did not have jobs in 1930. This is not necessarily true. I know that my father never went to high school and that they all worked because the family needed money. My dad had various jobs, from caddying at Burnham golf course (he was a pretty good golfer himself) to working at other things. He ended up working at Lever Bros. (now Unilever) for 42 years, retiring in the 70s." "After he retired from Lever Bros., my dad would cut the grass at Longwood Country Club, which was owned by the Kumiega family. Bob Tintari was the golf pro; now the course and operated by the three children, Joe, Bobbette, and Tammy." NOTE: The Kumiega-Tintari children are the great-great grandchildren of Lucille Zasada who was first cousin to Frank A. Zasada. That means that Pat Kumiega-Tintari (wife of Bob) and John Zasada were 2nd cousins once removed. (per Hammond Times obit) Funeral at St. Andrew Church, Calumet City, IL. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery (Lot 48, section St. Casimir, mid to far west side of section near Kortis headstone). Retired from Lever Bros. Member of American Legion Calumet Memorial Post 330.
