Notes
a. Note:   Possible theory -- There are baptismal records for a male Anthony Zasada at St. Casimir in Hammond with Frank as father and Antonia as mother. However, never been able to find this family so perhaps this was a record keeping error. Maybe Frank and Francis had a daughter Antonia. jaz (per Jackie Hayes) I don't think your theory about the second Anthony is crazy at all. In fact, it makes perfect sense to me. A mistake had to be made somewhere in this baptismal record. I just cannot believe that this family grouping just disappeared. I have looked everywhere for this family - in all states- with no success. The only explanation I can come up for that is that they changed their name and that just doesn't seem rational. Has St. Casimir's given you every baptismal record they have for all Zasadas? (YES as far as I know - jaz) If they have then that would seem to be another indication that something is wrong. You would think this couple would have had other children and the records would exist to verify the existence of a Frank & Antonia. I even checked Hammond marriage records - nothing, and Ellis Island for a Frank or Antonia or anything similiar - nothing. If we temporarily conclude that this was Frank & Frances' daughter Antonina the birthyear definitely would fit them still being in the area. We know they were in Hammond, IN in June of 1901. We know they were then in Milwaukee in October of 1904. We know from the 1910 census (compared to the 1900) that Frances had given birth to six more children between 1900 and 1910 but that only four were still alive in 1910. Since you pretty much have all of the baptismal information that Gene could find for you from Milwaukee we can conclude that we know about all the births between 1904 (Walter) and 1910 (Lottie) that took placein WI. That would seem to say that the other births took place in Hammond. We even had figured out that they were probably in 1902 and 1903. Taking this one step further now - the child born in March 1903 did not live to 1910. The year of birth matches this child we are discussing. If the family was in Milwaukee by October of 1904 did this child die in Milwaukee? The odds are probably about 50/50 that the child died in Hammond or Milwaukee if it died extremely young. But it if survived the move to Milwaukee but was not on the 1910 census we know the child died in Milwaukee. So, this lead me to check Ancestry since they have a Wisconsin Death index through 1907. I checked and there were only two Zasada deaths in Milwaukee on the index and both occured before 1900. So, it's probable that the deaths occured between 1908 and 1910. It would be a matter of finding out where you can get a death certificate for Milwaukee County between those years. Yu would have a last name, a birthdate and other information. You would also have a relatively small window of time that would need to be looked at. There was a note at the bottom of this particular database that stated the the LDS in Salt Lake has copies of birth, marriage and death records for many WI counties and to contact your local center for more info. I just looked on the LDS site and simply running a searching using ZASADA doesn't turn up anything with a connection to WI with the exception of SSDI records. I checked out all of those with a WI connection and there was nothing of any help. I've done some looking around to see where to go to get death records. I found out that Milwaukee County deaths are indexed on microfilm and different places have the reels. The Gold Meir Library at the University of WI-Milwaukee has an index of death 1872-1916 and also a register of deaths 1852-1912, One helps you figure out where to look in the other. Then there is a Register of deaths 1852-1906 at the Milwaukee Public Library. This one doesn't cover all the years you'd be interested in. Another thought occured to me. All four of the Zasada kids who were born in Milwaukee were baptized at St. Cyril & Methodius Church. That tells me that family stayed in that parish. I wonder if the church keeps records of funerals or deaths. I looked and found a website for this church. It's a bit confusing because there is an Orthodox church of the same name in Milwaukee but they are only 75 years old. I think I have the right church. They still say mass in Polish and the pastor is Fr. Andrzej Galant. This has to be the place. Here's the website in case you want to contact them. They might even be able to give you the name of area cemeteries used by parishioners. I noticed on a map that there was one quite close but it wasn't a Catholic cemetery. These people were pretty religious so I would think they would have used a Catholic cemetery not just a public one. http://www.archmil.org/parishes/ShowParish.asp?ID=205
