Note:   Obiituary from http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/statesmanjournal/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=173067836 Bryce William Hecht February 28, 1927 - November 3, 2014 DALLAS - Bryce William Hecht passed away Monday, November 3, 2014, at Salem Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Napanee, Nebraska, to Francis and Mary (Schulke) Hecht, one of 5 children. Bryce later met Betty Emerson and together they were married in Chehalis, Wash., on Nov. 13, 1948. Together they moved to Silverton in 1949 where they raised their two children. Bryce started as a correctional officer with the Oregon Dept. of Corrections, being promoted to lieutenant, where he worked for many, many years. Bryce loved his family above all else, and enjoyed fishing, training and owning race horses in later years, and occasional trips to Spirit Mountain Casino. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Betty, who passed away in 2009. Bryce is survived by his children: Karen (Gary) Koehler of Stayton and Darryl (Jody) Hecht of Dallas; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Blaine Hecht of Newport. Family burial will take place at 10:00 a.m., Sat., Nov. 8, 2014, where he will be laid to rest with his wife at Valley View Cemetery of Silverton. Following the burial, a celebration of Bryce's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Almost Home, Market Street, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to OHSU Stroke Center, OHSU Foundation, Mailstop 45, PO Box 4000, Portland, OR 97208-9852.
