Note: Lived in Rutland County, Vermont for a time. Per the "Loyalists of the American Revolution, Volume II," page 573, Friend was a Loyalist and received a grant of land in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, where he moved to with other Loyalists in 1783. Per the October 8 and 15, 1808 issues of the Rutland Herald, a letter remained unclaimed at the Rutland post office for either this Friend Ross, then of Wells, or his son.
