Note: Per the "Book of Ross," Artemas was a Tory, settled in Canada and died somewhere in Canada on a raft. The "Book of Ross" does not identify his wife; Ann Lauler is drawn from information elsewhere. Artemas seems to have been alive as late as January, 23, 1783, and probably living in Dover, New York, as the Diary of Robert Gilbert Livingston, Jr., of Dover, New York records that Livingston "Bought salt from Artemus Ross 23 Jan. 1783." See "Settlers of the Beekman Patent," by Frank J. Doherty, Vol. 1, page 772.
