a. Note:   The information on him and his family comes from abstracts of Orphans Cou rt Dockets (1785-1827), Dauphin Co. Court Records (1811, 1812, 1815), a nd from family group sheets given me by Pat Morrison and made by Ida Bowma ster. On April 29, 1811 the court appointed Andrew Miller guardian over A ndrew Meffert. Andrew Miller was the husband of Ann Good, daughter of Sam uel Good. On September 2, 1811 the court appointed Samuel Fox of Lower Pa xton Twp. guardian over Caty, Jacob, Molly, John, Benjamin, and Jane Meffe rt, minors under the age of 14, on the petition of Jane Meffert, wid ow of Benjamin Meffert, deceased. On May 2, 1815, Samuel Fox was excus ed as guardian and Samuel Good appointed. In 1800 there was a Samuel F ox in the census of Lower Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co., PA. He had 1M16- 26 and 1F26-45. Note that Susan Shell, daughter of Catherine Meffert a nd Daniel Shell and granddaughter of Benjamin Meffert, married a Christi an Fox. Other information from Mefford Memories, v. 4, no. 1, Pat Morris on ed., by Ida Bowmaster follows. In 1794 he paid tax on a cow and a horse in Lower Paxton Twp., Dauphin Co ., PA. In 1795 the same In 1796 or 1797 he bought four acres of land for which he paid three hundr ed pounds sterling. In 1799 he is listed as a miller and in 1803 he bought a home and grist mi ll from John Miller and his wife Susanna. In 1803-1809 he paid tax on 13-1/2 acres of land.
