Note: Dorothy, into her 80s could recall the old family ties in Coyell. Wonderful mother and caregiver to her brother Gilbert Gates who lived on the home place of CC Harrell. She was born on the Hood Road in Livingston Parish and lived all her life on the CC Harrell Place. Horace and Dorothy bought 25 acres from Alcest and George Harrell, their part of the CC Harrell place that belonged to CC Harrell and his second wife Gracie McMorris. When Dorothy was born, her father Chris hired Lydia Galloway Edwards wife of Marion Edwards to come and help out with the new baby. Oldest daughter of the 3rd family of CC Harrell, Dorothy helped raise her younger brothers whilel her mother worked in the field. The home place was bought by CC Harrell from his first cousin Willie Watts. Chris bought 25 acres where Horace and Dorothy lives.. He later bought the 25 acres next to the original 25 and moved to the old Willie Watts home spot. Dorothy died at 4:40 a.m. on May 1 2010 at Oschner Hospital Baton Rouge of pnemonia and congestive heart failure after a two week stay in the hospital. BR Obit Zeigler, Dorothy Louise �Sister� Harrell A beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothy went home to the Lord on May 1, 2010, at 4:40 a.m., at Oschner Hospital, Baton Rouge. Dorothy was born on Jan. 31, 1925 in Colyell, Livingston Parish. Other than a short period after marriage in Baton Rouge, she spent her entire life in Colyell as a homemaker and for a period of time, a mail carrier. She was a faithful member of Colyell Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons and their spouses: Milbern Horace and Linda Bennett Zeigler and Marvin Boyd and Betty Jo Lockhart Zeigler. Three grandsons whom she adored, Marvin Brent Zeigler, Micah Blake Zeigler and Milbern Horace �Ace� Zeigler Jr. She is also survived by brother and wife C.C. �Buzzy� and Ruby Harrell, brother Gilbert Gates Harrell, sisters in law Margie "Teetot" Harrell, Vengie Lee Zeigler, Evelyn Zeigler and Betty Zeigler. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Milbern Zeigler who she has missed intensely for 17 years and now joins, parents Christopher Columbus �Chris� and Simmie Nettie Milton Harrell. A sister, Jannie Harrell, brothers: George Allen Harrell, Alcest Harrell and Doris Harrell and an infant sibling. She was a caring person and an avid gardener. Most of all, she enjoyed being with and talking to family and friends. Visitation at Colyell Baptist Church on May 2, from 5 p.m. till 10 p.m... Visitation will resume at the Church on May 3, from 9 a.m. until Religious service at 11 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Bill Holifield. Interment will follow in the Colyell Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent, Blake and Ace Zeigler, Louis, Chris, and Joseph Harrell. Arrangements by Seale Funeral Home Denham Springs.
