Note:   Notes from Joan Zeitz: A letter written from O'Neill City, Holt Co., Nebraska mentioned the balloon races in St. Louis and the fact that his family is probably enjoying them. They returned to St. Louis shortly after this letter was written and just before he died, leaving 2 daughters, Lucile and Elizabeth and grandmother pregnant with my father, Robert J Carpentier. He rode a commuter train from Shrewsbury to work in downtown St. Louis. His mother knew when she heard the train whistle that she could put dinner on the table because he would be coming through the door at any minute.
