a. Note:   simply Herszko (Gerszko) Moved to Moscow between the Wars as did brother Feivel. Set up asweater factory under Lenin's New Economic Policy. Had been an electrician. Probably killed during Stalin purges of 1930s when small manufacturerswere eliminated. His wife (a Russian Jew) and children may have survived. Shlomo visited them in Minsk during WWII. He is mentioned on P. 262 of Sefer Biala Podlaska as having been amember of the synagogue choir that assisted the "New Cantor" YehosheleOstrower. David Hochberg sang "tenor." Natalie Friedman Wohlberg telephoned 22 June 2003. She remembers thefamily Hochberg who lived in Leningrad before WWII. She remembersthat they came from Biala Podlaska. She thinks that the father wasnamed David. He had two daughters: Rivka and Lyuba (born 1928 or1929). Lyuba was killed in Minsk during the Holocaust in the forestin the war. Lyuba fled to grandmother;s. Rivka survived the war andNatalie saw her in 1953. Lyuba was very beautiful, Rivka not so much.She was not married. David may have died of cancer around 1940 wasnot killed during the purges. 08-6411049, The Biala Podlaska BMD REcords for 1878-1900 show a birth record for aBoruch Dawid Gochberg [Hochberg] for 1893.
