Note: er hand, James Hall was possibly married to two women: Martha Bott/Botts and Martha Armistead. William Houston, Fresno, CA states her estate was probated 19 Feb 1808 in Edgefield Co, SC, but I have not confirmed this. Lacy Forrest stated Martha and Armistead Hall sold property in Edgefield Co, SC on 1 Jan 1807; deed does state "Armistead and Martha Hall", but is acknowledged by "Armistead and wife Rebeckah Hall". This would suggest Martha had an interest in the property though it was actually sold by Armistead and wife, Rebeckah. James Hall had left the Turkey Creek property to his wife Martha Hall during her lifetime, to revert to Armstead only at her death. So Martha Hall, as Armstead's mother, was a necessary party to the transaction. Rebeckah Hall, the wife, signed a separate relinquishment of dower re her (future) interest in the property. "BTW, the 1 Jan 1807 deed you cited (Edgefield Co SC Deed Book 28, p. 184) was not confused about the name of Armstead Hall's wife. He and Martha Hall were the correct sellers, because James Hall had left the Turkey Creek property to his wife Martha Botts Hall during her lifetime, to revert to Armstead only at her death. So Martha Hall, as Armstead's mother, was a necessary party to the transaction. Rebeckah Hall, the wife, signed a separate relinquishment of dower re her (future) interest in the property. All of the children of James and Martha Botts Hall were named in Edgefield Equity Court proceedings in 1817, when James Hall Jr. died intestate and without issue. The heirs were his [10] siblings, most with known locations. However, nobody had any idea where Armistead had gone off to./s/Harriet Imrey" <hhimrey@gmail.com> e-mail to M.A. Causey 8/4/11.
Note: Unsure of maiden name - possibly "Armistead", per GenForum messages (Hall Family). On the oth
