Notes
a. Note:   Per the 1900 census: could not read or write English. Did speak English. Name was spelled incorrectly as Petruska on census. Was actually Petruskie. Later it may have been changed to Petrusky. Her husband, Joseph Petruskie Sr. was a day laborer. He had been laid off for 3 months already at the time the 1900 census was taken. They had a boarding house. They had 4 boarders, all married Italian men in their 30's or so. Her parents were both born in Hungary per 1900 census. The next door neighbors were also Hungarian. The husband/head of household's name was Andrew Lasinzka. The wife's name was also Dora, same as Joseph and Mary's daughter. The Lasinzkas also had daughters named Dora and Mary, and a son named Andrew. The Lasinzkas also had boarders. The area was comprised of mostly Hungarian immigrants. I wonder if Dora Lasinzka and Mary Petruskie were perhaps sisters. They did not emigrate the same year however. The Lasinzkas emigrated in 1889, and the Petruskies emigrated in 1882. The Lasinzkas were married for 10 years at the time of the census, probably emigrated right around the time of their marriage. All their children were born in the U.S. The Petruskies were married for 20 years at the time of the 1900 census and had been married for 2 years when they emigrated to the U.S. Or there is also the possibility that Joseph Petruskie and Dora Lasinzka were siblings. Or Mary Petruskie and Andrew Lasinzka could have been siblings.
