He lived in Connecticut until 25 years of age, and then went to Onondaga county, New York where he married Chloe Thompson, November 4, 1816. She died in orth Plains township, Ionia county, Michigan, November 14, 1870. In the fall of 1836, he came to Michgian and located some land in North Plains township, Ionia county, Michigan and, in the spring of 1837, he moved his family into his new home which was then an unbroken wilderness. No white settlers within five miles and separated by Maple river, which could be corrsed only by fording. Indians, wolves, and bears were present in large numbers. they moved from Detroit with two yokes of oxen hitched to a wagon, which contained theirhosuehold good, etc. He lived on this farm the balance of his life. There were born to them 17 children, 14 of whom lived to reach maturity and 13 married. Firty grandchildre, 48 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, making a total of one hundred and eleven descendants. Of this number there are living at present, June 12 1890, nice childre, thirty-eiht grandchilren, 39 great grandchildren, and on great, great grandchild -- total 87. Nathaniel Sessions was a man of great industry, but for several years before his death he was unable to labor. His influence was ever ont he side of right and justice, and his whole family received and practiced the correct principles of marality and temperance as laid down by him. Of this large family, Charles Sessions was the oldest. Born in marcellus township, Onondage County, New York, and died in Lebabon Township, clinton Co. Michigan, Debruary 13, 1880. On him fell a large portion of the hardship and responsibility accompanying a journey into the new country where they located in Michigan.
