Peterson, a resident of Clay county for more than 50 years, died at her home here Sunday, after an illness of about a month. !Funeral services were held from the Elmore funeral home Wednesday with the Order of Eastern Star in charge. !Ada E. Peterson was born 11 March 1866, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Harriet Maurer. She came to Clay county in 1884 and September 24, 1885, became the bride of P. W. Peterson. They have made their home in Vermillion and Clay country throughout their married life. !Mrs. Peterson was very active in various walks of life until poor health compelled her to remain at home. She belonged to several organizations including the Order of Eastern Star, of which she had been a member of many years, and was the last living charter mamber of the Roundabout club, one of the oldest social organizations in the city. She was also a member of the Presbyterian church. !Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Edna I. Peterson, of Vermillion; two sisters living in Canada, a brother in Chicago, and a brother living in Faulkton." !From Lucille Wimer 16 March 1999: "Ada Naurer was my grandfather's sister, hence a double marriage relationship. For some reason that I do not know - the two families quit speaking to each other. None of the two families or their children went to the funerals of the other family. Sad isn't it?
