a. Note:   Cumberland County census. BAPTISM: "Maggie Born 3rd April. I have Baptized Maggie for Richard Desmond and Ellen Maria George, sp. Mary George. Hugh Malone P.P." Mary George may have been Hannah Maria's mother. Baptismal date precedes birth date as recorded in the 1901 census. DEATH: Following a lengthy illness, the death of Mrs. Ernest Dryden, occurred at her home in Whitehall early Saturday morning. A well known and life long resident of this town, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mrs. Desmond, early settlers in this district. Surviving are her husband and two daughters, Jennie and Phyllis; also one sister, Mrs. Geo. Pleshaw, of Boston; and one brother, John Desmond, of Parrsboro. The funeral was held from St. Briget's Church at 9 o'clock Mass yesterday morning, with Reverend Thomas MacDonald officiating. (Parrsboro Record, 16 Jun 1942)
