Note: L. Murdock 245 acres near the waters of the Eno for $800. This was land bought from George Laws in 1898 (Orange County, NC Deed Book 58, page 508). LEGAL: 1907 -- October 31, the Town of Hillsborough deeded land to Robert L. Murdock (Orange County, NC Deed Book 60, page 205). LEGAL: 1909 -- November 29, two deeds from R. L. and Nellie Murdock, et al, to settle the distribution of her father William Simpson Gray's estate (Orange County, NC Deed Book 65, pages 407 and 410). LEGAL: 1917-18 -- There were several deeds from R. L. Murdock which are in the Courthouse for anyone who is interested to see. MARRIED: 1908 -- December 3, Robert L. Murdock married Nellie Lee Gray. The marriage was performed by H. S. Brackham, Minister, at Sarah Gray�s. Witnesses were Jonathan W. Dickens, W. R. Laws, and W. A. Gordon. MARRIED: 1919 -- September 15, Robert L. Murdock married Bertha Yates. The marriage was performed by H. S. Bradshaw, Presbyterian Minister. Witnesses were Mrs. Alan Browning, Alan Browning and Mrs. H. S. Bradshaw. DEATH: With Robert Lee Murdock's death, the 205 year old line of Murdocks in Orange County that descended from James William Murdock was ended. All of his sons had moved to Durham. DEATH: "ROBERT L. MURDOCK, 77, of Rt. 3, Hillsboro, died in a Durham hospital Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock following a long illness. Mr. Murdock was born in Orange County, the son of Henry and Martha Murdock. He was educated in the schools of Orange County and lived his entire life here, where he was engaged in farming. He was a member of Palmers Grove Methodist Church. Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Murdock Nagle of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Albert L. Murdock and Henry G. Murdock, both of Durham; one brother, A. A. Murdock of Durham; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie M. Gordon of Hillsboro and Mrs. Richard Gates of Rougemont; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was first married to Miss Nellie Gray of Rougemont, who died in 1915. He was next married to Miss Bertha Yates of Orange County, who died in 1945. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock in the New Bethel Church, located 4 miles this side of Rougemont. Burial will be in the Church cemetery."
