"Source: "TODD COUNTY KENTUCKY FAMILY HISTORY", Turner Publishing, 1995; Pg 176; states: "Thomas Edwards was an early settler of northernTodd County". As stated in the history of Todd Co, KY, Thomas Edwards came to Kirkmansville district from North Carolina * and made a settlement on Cow Creek. In the early days, he manufactured considerable tar from the pine that he brought from the cliffs and subsequently burned. Accompanying Edwards to this unexplored country was his brother in law, * Reuben Stark(s). We find Thomas Edwards first in this area 1804 with 100 acres on Cow Creek. He was married to Polly Stark(s) in Southampton Co, Virginia and came to Kentucky via Nash County, North Carolina."
