a. Note:   Jake Zilverberg, age 84 of Aitkin died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at the Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin. Jake was born March 15, 1923 in Wessington Springs, South Dakota the son of James and Caroline (Noach) Zilverberg. He attended schools in South Dakota and then moved with his family to the Aitkin area at the age of 10. He then attended schools in Aitkin. He helped on the family farm. He married Mary Ann Burgstaler on June 3, 1947 in Crosby. They continued farming for 20 years. He then went into Refrigeration, air conditioning and heating and worked at that for 20 years retiring due to a disability. He enjoyed working on Hit and Miss Engines and he was a master craftsman when it came to building these engines. He was also a very active musician having his own band for many years known as Jake’s Varieties. He played lead guitar and had been playing music since the age of 14. He volunteered many hours over the years to entertaining the residents of the local nursing homes. He was a member of the musicians union, the National Farmers organization, the DFL Party, a former member of the Aitkin Township Board, a former moose club member and had been a member of a number of Pioneer Gas Engine Associations. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Zilverberg of Aitkin; 1 son and daughter in law: Kenneth Jake and Diane Zilverberg of Aitkin; 2 daughters and spouses: Annette Marie Zilverberg-Russell and husband Ted Russell of Aitkin; Karen Ann Zilverberg Carson and husband Don Carson of Seabrook, Texas; 1 brother: Jim Zilverberg of Grants Pass, Oregon; 5 grandchildren: Lisa Rosio, Cal Rainbolt, Grayson Rainbolt, Mellissa Rainbolt, Tony Rainbolt; 6 great grandchildren: Phillip Rainbolt, Ashley Rainbolt, Aaliyh Rainbolt, Armani Rainbolt King, Amari Rainbolt King, Karina Rainbolt. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Jeanine Mary Zilverberg; 2 brothers: Mike Zilverberg, Dave Zilverberg and 1 sister Bessie Weimer. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 2007 at 11 AM from St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Fruth officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Aitkin. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and also 1 hour prior to services at the church Friday.
