Witnessed by Andreas Loucks and Jeremiah Loucks Jun. # 27 by David Bellinger, Ancestry.com, Mar 2007 Source 1 p 8,20 Marcu Bellinger II born Feb. 19, 1742, died Feb. 4, 1822, married Oct. 18, 1764 Schoharie Lutheran church to #203 Maria Borst, born Sep. 9, 1740, died Oct. 18, 1793, daughter of #31 John Matrin Borst and Catharine Mattice. Supervisor 1767-96 was called Marcus of Middleburg. Children 10 Bellinger (Cady). See Roscoe's History of Schoharie County, Appendix page XIII. Married second, Jan. 2, 1796. (Cady says Sep. 17, 1795) to Christina Sternbergh, widow of John Lawyer. No issue by second marriage. If we accept Cady's statement, the widow was over 80 at this marriage. John Lawyer Jr. may have been ment. (See notes on #27 and record of #43.) Just as an item of interest, I knew oneold lady of 82 who was so sprightly and mentaliy active, she accually entertained at that age matrimonial hopes. Public Documents Service: Private, 15th Regiment Albany page 128 New York in the Revolution as Colony and State by Robert & Mather. Subscriber to N.Y. State May 30, 1780 for "no less than $500, 6 per cent interest" page 194 Supplement to New York in the Revolution as Colony and State by Robert & Mather, shows #27 Marcus and #263 John L. did subscribe. Furthermore no one from Montgomery and Herkimer counties came across similarly. DAR 114995 gives his line correctly except "Heche" instead of Ernestine Herter 1770-1853 is given. Cady gives the surname correctly. Deeds Note the deed of 900 acres in the Clark Patent, Apr. 22, 1767 by #27 Marcus Bellinger and Hendrick Borst, Albany county deed book 7, page 493. It looks as if that land belonged to #37 Joost Borst. Histories and Books Homeplace was in Hartman's Dorf, settled in 1713 and had 65 houses on high ground. When Conrad Weiser took his immigrants to Pennsylvania, 1722 there were left only the Bellinger and Rickert families in the Dorf, History of Schoharie County New York by William E. Roscoe, page 211. Comment Which Marcus is which in the county histories? All the histories forget #3 Marcus the First who died 1746 or earlier. #27 Marcus II, 1742-1822, a son of the second wife. Supervisor from 1767-1796 is seperated from nephew #162 Marcus born 1762, who could not have been supervisor at age 5. This leaves #27 Marcus as the Marcus of Middleburg who carried the bag of powder to the fort while Sir John Johnson burned his buildings, and the Marcus who kept tavern as did his son 179A John M., thus laying the foundation for "large estates, it being the characteristic of the family to accumulate wealth." George Klock's descendants did the same and intermarried (see 264) but the liquor profits of Klock and Bellinger have not lasted till today. History of Schoharie County New York by William E. Roscoe, see pages 213, 218, 246 with errors especially on page 212. The big preaches, Marcus and Henry were not in this tavern line strange to say. They came through the oldest son, #25 John, #155 John Jr. to 904 and 901. 1800 CENSUS OF THE TOWN OF MANHEIM HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. 1st No.-Males under the age of 10 years 2nd No.-Males between the age of 10-16 years 3rd No.-Males between the age of 16-26 years 4th No.-Males between the age of 26-45 years 5th No.-Males over the age of 45 years 6th No.-Females under the age of 10 years 7th No.-Females between the age of 10-16 years 8th No.-Females between the age of 16-26 years 9th No.-Females between the age of 26-45 years 10th No.-Females over the age of 45 years 11th No.-All other free persons 12th No.-Slaves *-Illegible Bellinger, Markes--0-2-1-0-1--1-1-0-0-1--0-0 LDS File Family Group Record FamilySearchâ„¢ Ancestral File v4.19 Marcus BELLINGER AFN:16BN-SX5 Born: 19 Feb 1742 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Died: 4 Feb 1822 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Buried: Feb 1822 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Married: 18 Oct 1764 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Father: Marcus BELLINGER AFN:8FZC-XH Mother: Maria Margaretha ZEH AFN:JBF2-KR Wife's Name Maria BORST AFN:16BN-SKV Born: 9 Sep 1740 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Died: Bef 1835 Place: NY Buried: Bef 1835 Place: NY Married: 18 Oct 1764 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Father: Johan Martie Martin BORST AFN:16BN-S97 Mother: Catharina MATTICE AFN:JVMB-4C Children 1.Johannes M BELLINGER AFN:16BN-SVQ Born: 9 Jan 1788 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Died: 1874 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY Buried: 1874 Place: Schoharie, Schoharie, NY 2.
