Notes
a. Note:   Iverson B. Jones was born about 1813, reportedly in Culpeper County, Virginia, the son of Thomas Jones. He was about seventeen years of age when on 20 December 1830 Iverson Jones "orphan of Thomas Jones deceased" went into court in Culpeper County, Virginia and named Fielding Jones as his guardian. No record of his father's estate has ever been found. However, the guardianship record did not state that he was an heir of Thomas Jones, but rather that he was the orphan of Thomas Jones. While it seems likely that he must have been named an heir in someone's estate, thus far no record has been located. From the census material found, it would appear that he had siblings. The fact that he was the only child of Thomas Jones who required a guardian would tend to indicate that he was the sole heir. The will of his paternal grandfather James Jones written in 1833 proved that his father Thomas was deceased by that year, but James was still living when Iverson named Fielding his guardian in 1831. Therefore, there would have been no estate as yet to require a guardian. -- The Jones Family, Shirley Wilson
