a. Note:   He was the first of the two Zid brothers to come to America. He made several trips back and forth between the old and new countries, urging his brother, Vaclav (William), to emigrate as well, which he subsequently did around 1904. Frank located in Portland, Oregon and opened his own business as a shoemaker. He never married and when he died, his nephew Frank went to Portland with wife and young son to close the business and make funeral arrangements. FOUND his WW I draft registration...he was living in Montana!!! birthdate agrees with my records, nearest relative is Wm Zid in Collinsville, ILL ELLIS ISLAND research: Is THIS a possibility? he was ONLY 10 years old then!
