a. Note:   Rev. Wm. J. Ziegenfus stated that "the exact relationship of Matthias Ziegenfus to any of the immigrant families is not presently (1980) known. His name appears in the 1790 census as married with 5 sons and 4 daughters and residing in Bucks Co. PA. His name also does appear on the Bedminister Twp. Tax Lists for 1785 &6, assessed for 100 acres of land, 2 horses and 2 cows. One of Wm. Ziegenfus' charts suggests he may have been a son of Hans Jacob. Matthias may have been born in PA after immigation of Hans' family?
