Notes
a. Note:   This Ziesman information was originally gathered by Lucille Ziesman Lettow and Gary Lettow. It was originally published in book form under the title, "Ziesmann Aus Pommern" in March 1982. Updates have continued on a bi-annual basis, coinciding with the Ziesman reunion in Eldora, Iowa. A new edition was published in July 2001. With permission from Lucille and Gary Lettow, information from Ziesmann Aus Pommern was posted on Rootsweb in the hopes that other family members would benefit from and add to the currently known Ziesman information. ___________________________________________________ It is thought that Michael G. Ziesmann was born in Varzin, south of Stolp. At some point Michael moved to Pustow, purchasing land from a man named Petke. It is also thought Michael had at least two brothers. When the Napoleonic Wars reached Germany in 1812, Michael stayed to tend the farm while the two brothers left to fight. It is not known if either brother returned to Varzin or Pustow. It was in Pustow that Michael married Hanna Caroline Poochen or Puchen. They had seven children. Michael and Hanna were buried in the Wussow church cemetery. ------------------------------------------------- Note: Otto von Bismarck had a home/house/residence in Varzin.
