Note: Information from Lucille Warner via Nancy Zimmerman Dunham: "Frank Brown, according to the 1900 census, was born November, 1859 in Michigan and lived with his brother John. He was married to Anna E. Trott. They had no children. Central Lake Torch - Thursday, May 22, 1902 - Torch Lake: 'And still another case of deranged mind is reported from Banks Township. Mrs. Frank Brown, living about two miles north of Eastport has been having some trouble of late and it is thought that it may be necessary to send her to the asylum for a time unless she should improve materially soon. About a month ago she hid in the woods for some time and was found and restored to her house with difficulty. Last Sunday she again had a bad spell, threatening to take her life, and while she is no better it is thought that her malady may return at any moment.' Elk Rapids Progress - Thrusday, July 16, 1925 - Torch Lake and Eastport: 'The large busses (Greyhounds) of the highway run north and south each day between Traverse City and Petoskey, stopping at every village along the way; their headquarters here is at the Brown Waffle Shop.' (Frank and Anna were the owners of the Brown Waffle Shop.) May 20, 1926 - Torch Lake and Eastport: 'Frank Brown is having a gas station installed at his place here in town.' June 2, 1932 - Eastport: 'Mrs. Frank Brown has started operating her Waffle Parlor again this year, the first for a number of years, as her health was poor.' September 25, 1935 - Eastport: 'Frank Brown still appears to have faith in the resort business. He is starting construction of two overnight log cabins on his property on the west side of M31 northwest of town.' Frank died November 18, 1935 at the age of 76 of Coronary Occlusion Angina Pectoris. Anna was born in Lisbon, Michigan, October 15, 1865 and moved to Petoskey when 12 years old. She died April 19, 1937 at the age of 71 years of carcinoma of the stomach. She was a patient who never complained of the severe pain she suffered during her incurable disease. She ate practically nothing and drank very little for a number of weeks before her death." ---------------------------------
