A cemetery book states that her gravestone indicates that she died on 4 January 1822, age 67. If that information is correct she was born between 5 January 1754 and 4 January 1755.3 Event 13 March 1774 On 13 March 1774 Georg "Reg" and Anna Margaretha Ross sponsored a Lutheran baptism at the Union Church in Heidelberg Township, Northampton (now Lehigh) County, Pennsylvania. On 8 April 1802 George Ray's/Reeg's will, dated 16 February 1802, was proven in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Records concerning the estate listed the family both as Ray and Reeg. The will named his wife Margaret, two sons John and George William and five daughters, Catharine, Barbara, Margaret, Sarah, and Mary. The will stated: (spacing, punctuation added for clarification; capitalization corrected; spelling left as found): "George Ray's Will, - In the name of God, Amen this sixteenth day of February in the year year [sic] of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & two, I George Reeg of West Buffaloe Township in the county of Northumberland and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, being at present sick and weak in body but of sound disposing mind memory and understanding, thanks be to God therefore, calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my soul into the Hands of God who gave it, And as to my body I recommend it to the earth, to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner and touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give devise & dispose of the same in the following manner and form, Imprimis It is my will and I do order that in the first place all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. Item. I give and devise unto my son John Reeg all that my plantation or tract of land whereon I at present live situate in West Buffaloe Township aforesaid, containing two hundred acres of land be the same more less, that is to say the same to be cut off from my lands according to the lines as I have heretofore shown and told my sons, to have and to hold the aforesaid plantation or tract of land unto my said son John Reeg and to his heirs and assigns forever, together with the buildings thereon erected and made; In consideration whereof my said son John or his heirs shall pay or cause to be paid the just and full sum of five hundred pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania in manner following that is to say the sum of twenty five pounds yearly and every year until the aforesaid sum of five hundred punds is fully paid and satisfied as I shall herein further direct Item. I give and devise unto my son George William Reeg all that my plantation or tract of land situate also int he Township aforesaid and adjoining my aforesaid plantation and lying on the ridge, containing also two hundred acres be the same more or less, the same to be cut off from my lands according to the lines, as befoe mentioned, to have and to hold my said plantation or tract of land unto my said son George William Reeg and to his heirs and assigns forever, together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, in consideration whereof my said son George William or his heirs shall pay or cause to be paid the just and the full sum of three hundred and eighty pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania in manner following that is to say, the sum of twenty five pounds yearly and every year until the aforesaid sum of three hundred and eighty pounds is fully paid and satisfied, as I shall also herein further direct Item. I give and devise unto either of my four daughters, to wit Barbara, Margaret, Sarah and Mary, all that my plantation or tract of land situate also in the township aforesaid and adjoining my aforesaid two plantations, containing two hundred acres be the same more or less, the same also to be cut off from my lands according to the lines as before mentioned, to have and to hold said plantation or tract of land unto either of my four before mentioned daughters that is to say whoever is willing to take the same, and to her heirs and assigns forever, together with the buildings thereon erected and made, is also to have the free and uninterrupted liberty to take or fetch water from the spring, which is on the part of my land which I have devised to my son John, and to water their creatures therewith free egress and regress. In consideration whereof my same daughter who takes said plantation or tract of land, or her heirs shall pay or cause to be paid the just and full sum of five hundred pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania in manner following that is to say the sum of twenty five pounds yearly & every year until the aforesaid sum of five hundred pounds is full paid and satisfied as I shall also herein direct Item. I give and devise unto my daughter Catharine Reeg all that my Messuage House and three in lots and one out lot situate in and near the town of Mifflinsburgh, otherwise called Youngmans Town in the township aforesaid, as also the quantity of twenty five acres of timber land, the same to be cut off from my land at the corner of Col. Clarks land, to run upon or along the ridge twenty two perches and along Clarks line so far or much that it will make the aforesaid twenty five acres to have and to hold all that my messuage house and several lots of ground and piece of timber land with the appurtenances unto them respectively belonging, unto my said daughter Catharine and to her heirs and assigns forever, and that free & clear of paying and consideration for the same, and all which to be in full for her inheritance of my whole estate excepting her bridle gift when she marries & what I shall bequeath her hereafter. Item. It is my will and I do order that my beloved wife Margaret shall with the help and assistance of my children farm and work my aforesaid plantations tracts of lands for two years after my decease, and from the incomes or profits thereof to pay of my just debts, so far as it will reach, excepting, from the plantation which I have devised to my son George William, and that after the expiration of the aforesaid two years, my serveral children shall and may take in possession my aforesaid three platations or tracts of land to them devised as aforesaid. - and that from thence in one year after my afforesaid two sons and daughters which takes my aforesaid plantation or their respective heirs shall make their first payment of twenty five pounds each, unto my oldest daughter of the other three so that she will receive seventy five pounds, and in one year from thence to my next oldest daughter the second payments and so on yearly as aforesaid unto my three daughters which gets no land have received an equal portion or share of the same and for which several sums of money and payments my aforesaid three plantations or tracts of land shall respectively be subject until they are paid as aforesaid Item. It is my will and do order, that my son John or his heirs shall as a further consideration for the aforesaid plantation ___ give deliver and make __d unto my beloved wife Margaret yearly and every year so long she remains my widow, and as widows dower the follow articles, that is to say, six bushels of good wheat, six bushels of good rye, six bushels of buckwheat, to keep two cows in fodder or prov__ summers and winters like his own cows, to have the liberty to raise so many hogs as she has need for her pork, or to give her a fat hog which shall weigh one hundred and thirty or forty pounds at the season of killing or autumn so many hens & eggs for her to eat as she has need for, three bushels potatoes and to have the liberty in the summer to take so many potatoes for to eat as she has need for, the one third part of the garden & to dung the same when required, six pounds good hatchled flax, six pounds tow, three pounds good wool and when she will ride out to find or provide her a good horse which she can ride, to find every third year so much small cut firewood fit for use and to be hauled to her dwelling as she has need for to take from time to time her grain to the mill as she has need and to fetch the meal and bran home again into her dwelling, to have the liberty to live or dwell on the Spring House, and which he shall put in good order with a iron stove in it so that she may live comfortable in it, and the liberty & use of Spring House below, the cellar to put her things in it and the bake-oven with free egress and regress to the same and when she should get infirm or sick to give or find her good a____ance. Item. It is also my will and I do order, that my son George William or his heirs, shall also as a further consideration for his plantation devised to him, shall give and deliver unto my aforesaid wife yearly & every so long, she reamins my widow, the following articles, to wit, six bushels of good wheat, six bushels of good rye, six bushels of buckwheat, six bushels of potatoes, six pounds good hatchled flax, six puonds tow, three pounds good wool, sixty pounds good beef at the season of killing or autumn, all the aforesaid articles to be delivered into her dwelling house and to find every third year so much small cut firewood for use as she has need of, and the same to be hauled to her dwelling. Item. It is my will and I do further order that which ever of my aforesaid four daughters who shall take my aforesaid plantation, she or her heirs shall also give and deliver unto my beloved wife yearly and every year so long she remains my widow, all such articles and things as my said son George William is to give and deliver, the same also be be as a further consideration of said plantation. And also that my beloved wife shall have the liberty yearly to choose three rows of apple trees in the orchard of my son John. Item. It is my will and I order that the aforesaid first three payments making together seventy five pounds shall be put and paid into the hand of my my beloved wife, and of which she shall furnish my three youngest daughters with their bridle gifts as my other two daughters have got. Item. I give an bequeath unto my beloved wife two cows, three sheep, two hogs to take her choice, her bed, spinning wheel, reel, all the linen cloth and table cloths and such other house and kitchen furniture as she has need for to keep house to take her choice, and all which shall be in full for my wifes one third part of my personal estate, and to have no further demand against the same, and to take the same after the expiration of the aforesaid two years. Item. It is my will and I do order that after the expiration of the aforesaid two years and when my wife is to give up my land that then all the rest of my personal estate shall be sold upon public vendue, excepting my waggon which I give to my two son George Wiliam and John to have jointly, and two horse creatures and one heifer which I give to my son John and to take his choice and the money ariving from the same, two hundred pounds shall be put out upon interest and good security and the interest thereof shall be paid yearly unto my beloved wife so long she remains my widow and if there should be any money more from the sale of my personal estate than the aforesaid two hundred pounds, it is my will that the same shall be equally divided amongst my seven children or their representatives, and after the decease of my beloved wife or when she should intermarry again, that the aforesaid two hundred pounds shall be equally divided amongst my four daughers, to wit Catharine and yt (sic?) other three which gets no lands, or their respective representatives in four equal shares. And lastly I name make and appoint my loving friend Conrad Reedy and my two sons George William & John to be executors of this my last will and testatment, hereby revoking disannulling, & making void, all former and other wills & testaments by me heretofore make, ratifying and cofirming this to be my last will and testatment. In witness where of I the said George Reeg have hereunto set my hand and seal, date the day and year first above written. Register for the count afos. personally appeared Martin Sittler and Adam Goettgen the two subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will who being duly sworn according to law, sayeth that they were personally present & did see George Reeg the testator sign seal & declare the foegoing writing to be his last will & testament, and that at the time of his so publishing the said will he was of sound & disposing mind & memory as the desponants do belive acording to the best of their knowledge & understanding - That the deponents respectively made their names as witnesses in the presence of each other. - And further saith not. Simpson Regr."2 Event 26 August 1806 On 26 August 1806 George Ray, John Ray and Conrad Reedy filed the final accounting report for the estate of George Reeg Senior, late of West Buffalo Township, with the Northumberland County, Pennsylvania Court. The report listed the family name as "Reeg" in the body of the report but John and George signed their names "Ray". The report indicated that the estate had received payments or credits from: 1. inventory and appraisment of George Reeg's property: 948 pounds, 10 shillings, 4 pence 2. money recevied from Philip Swonek on a note: 15 pounds, 10 shillings, 0 pence 3. money "from Elizabeth Reeg Estate (who was mother) of Testator L 15.0.0 being the divide of her personal property among her children": 15 pounds, 0 shillings, 0 pence The report also listed 102 payments from the estate. Payment number 91 indicated that widow Ray (name not listed) had received household goods valued at 45 pounds, 1 shilling and 6 pence.14 Death 4 January 1822 Anna Margaretha (?) died on 4 January 1822 in (Union County?), (Pennsylvania?).3,15 Burial She was buried in Ray's Church Cemetery, Heidelberg Township, Union County, Pennsylvania.3 Gravestone A cemetery book indicates two Reeg or Ray burials in Ray's Church Cemetery: 1.
