Notes
a. Note:   From his obituary in the Green Springs Gazette: "WILLIAM ZIMMERMAN A Pioneer Resident of Greenspring Died at his Home on Monday at the Age of Eighty-Five Years" "William Zimmerman, one of the oldest citizens of this village and vicinity, departed this life on Monday, Jan. 9, 1911, after a protracted illness, aged 85 years, 9months, and 14 days. Mr. Zimmerman was born in Osnaburg, Stark County, Ohio, March 23, 1835, and at the age of 7 years came with his parents to live in this part of the state, and has ever since resided in this vicinity. He has lived to a ripe old age, and it has often been said of him that he cleared more land with an ax than was ever done by any man in this section. At the age of 22 years, and on July 5, 1847, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Brownell. To this union was born six children, four sons and two daughters; three sons, John residing north of town, James of Cleveland, Charles of Dayton, and Mrs. Harvey Gray residing north of town survive. Two brothers, Josiah of Adams township, Seneca County, and Frank of Center Lake, Michigan, also survive. On June 1, 1895, the subject of this sketch was united in marriage to Mrs Christine Peters, who survived her husband and cared for him as best she could in her crippled condition. The funeral service was held in the Methodist church in this village on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M.T. Ayers, Interment in Greenspring cemetery. Among those from a distance present at the funeral were: J.A. Zimmerman and daughters, Misses Fay and Mary, of Cleveland; Charles Zimmerman of Dayton, Mrs. Roll Ream and Mr. and Mrs. George Rader of Clyde." --------------------------------- Sources: Death Date: Fremont Daily News Jan 10, 1911 Page 5, Column 2 Death Date: Echo Jan 12, 1911 Page 1, Column 1 Father : Clyde Centinal Jan 31, 1879 Page 4, Column 2 Other : Hayes Library: LH112 - Pohlman, C.F.
