Note: From Porth Huron Weekly Times, Thursday, November 16, 1896 Peter Zimmer, an old resident of St Clair County, died at his home on the River Road on Saturday, aged 63 years. His death was the result of an accident on Friday. He was drawing corn stalks from the field when he fell from the wagon. The back of his head struck upon some corn stubble bursting a blood vessel. Mrs Zimmer resided in Port Huron for a long number of years and was in the employ of the late James H. Haslett. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. 1880 census is on t755 microfilm at nara (national archives and records administration) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Immigration Record: There are four immigration records that could apply to this Peter Zimmer. All are from Prussia and the source record is from Prussia/Saarland/Saarbruken/Koblenz. Arrival dates include 1846(p.546), 1849(p.514), 1864(p.284), and 1871(p.72). Given that marriage date is about 1861 and first child is born in 1862 and Peter is not listed in the 1850 or 1860 census, one would expect that immigration occurred close to 1860. However, no record for that date has been discovered. Peter would have been about 17 in 1849 so that date is a possible match but absence from census data is a problem.
