a. Note:   Hans Kristian Nikoli was born Jan. 1, 1879 (Nikoli was his mother's fathers name). Hans worked for farmers until 1900. He went into the army and was sent home in three weeks because of a bad leg. In June of 1901 he went to the United States. He worked in the Missouri Valley Iowa Railroad industry. He then went to Deadwood, South Dakota and worked in a mining mill named the Golden Reward. In 1907 Hans moved to Spokane, WA. and went to work for the Great Northern railroad. He remained in Spokane until 1918, then moved to the coast of Washington and worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad. July of 1922 found Hans moving first to Alaska, then to Los Angeles, CA, and then back to Seattle, WA where he worked for the Commercial Creamery until 1931. Hans then moved out on the Skagit river near Stanwood, WA in 1932. He remained in that area until he moved to a home for senior citizens in Mt. Vernon, WA where he met and married a lady resident of the home. They shared a few happy years together until Hans died in 1962.
