Note: e Maria Wottle, ehel. Tochter des Dominikus Wottle und der Agatha Hirschle. Fridolin Wottle was an illegitimate child of Rosina Wottle. After her marriage to Joseph Herz the name was changed to Herz. Fridolin Herz of Gundlingen, Baden made an application to emigrate in 1857 (GLA No. 151238). Application is dated 28 Jan 1857, Bezirksamt Breisach, Staatsarchiv Freiburg Signatur B 694/1, Nr. 962. Note in the "Verkundungsblatt No. 11", dated 4 Feb 1857: "Fridolin Herz von Gundlingen will mit seiner Familie und der ledigen Therese und Rosa Zipfel von Gundlingen nach Amerika auswandern. Ihre Glaubiger haben daher ihre Anspruche bis Donnerstag, den 12. Febr. d. J. Vormittags 10 Uhr umso gewisser hier anzumelden, als sonst dem Gesuche stattgegeben wurde" Breisach, den 28. Januar 1857, Groherz. Bezirksamt, gez. v. Reichlin. He and his family arrived New York on 26 Mai 1857 on the ship "Wm. Frothingham" which departed from Le Havre, France. Page 4 of the ship manifest lists the following passengers: 155 Herz, Fridolin, 46, male, farmer, Baden 156 Herz, Antoine, 17, V V V 157 Zippel, Elise, 42, female, V V (=Joseph Zipfelus sister) 158 Zippel, Catharine, 22, V V V (=Joseph Zipfelus daughter Theresia) 159 Zippel, Rose, 13, V V V (=Joseph Zipfelus daughter Rosa) SElise ZippelT actually was Elisabeth Zipfel, b. 29 Mar 1813 in Gundlingen, Baden, daughter of Vitalis and Maria Theresia Schreiber. Her brother Joseph Zipfel (*8 Aug 1805) was already in America. He made three applications to emigrate: 1833, 1837 and 1853, and finally he travelled with son Maximilian in 1854. Joseph and Max Zipfel arrived at N.Y. harbor on 11 Jan 1854 on the Ship "Catharine and Cumbria ", departure Antwerpen, Belgium. SCatharine ZippelT and SRose ZippelT were Elisabethus nieces, i. e. the daughters of Joseph Zipfel (Maxus sisters). I have no idea, why the ship manifest lists Elizabeth with her maiden name. They were married in 1839 in Baden.
