Notes
a. Note:   N16 Matthias Lackas, 33, was a witness of her birth registration. The birth date given on the card is from her marriage certificate; the second, 8 November 1824, is from her birth certificate. I cannot explain the discrepancy. A witness of the marriage was Matthias Lackas, 52, a farmer, great–uncle of the bride. See “Mother” for more on Matthias. Landed at New York in June, 1846; applied for naturalization at Milwaukee, 31 March 1849. Her date of death is either 1877 or 1887—I assume that the problem is somebody’s illegible handwriting.
