Text: Whilst returning to Tullich with his wife from Armidale in the evening in a buggy pulled by two horses the creeks were up and it was very cold. The horses pulled them into a creek but refused to pull them out. Alexander got into the cold water and drew the horses foreward until they were all safe on the bank. Unfortunatly the cold and stress was too much and Alexander died from a heart attack.

Note: First came to Rockvale serving as a shepherd. Between 1867 & 1870 he selected property known as Tullich. One of 3 committe appointed to build the church at Kilcoy in 1881. Check the Bounty ship "America" arriving Morton Bay 11 Jan 1853. Check Immigration Lists 4/1790 & 4/4928 in Mitchell Library. Check Immigration lists 4/4907 (Cameron) ship "Blonde" arr 27 dec 1849. The original homestead was located on the eastern bank of the creek. It was used by Alexander and his son Alexander but eventually was burnt down when the kitchen, which was not detached from the house, caught fire. A second homestead was built on the western side of the creek. This also burnt down in the late 1950's or early 1960's.
