a. Note:   The obituary ot T. H. Duke in the Whitney Messenger, Jan 1906 "T. H. Duke, succumbed to illness from pneumonia at 5:15 o'clock last Monday morning at his home at Fort Graham. His remains were interred Monday afternoon in the Fort Graham cemetery by fellow members of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Sermon preached by Rev. J. R. Randle. His wife was also ill from pneumonia at the time of his demise. Born in Spalding County, GA [Should have been Pike]on Feb. 7, 1840, he being 19 days past 66 years old when death overtook him. In 1857, he was married in GA to Miss Sarah E. Thomas, to whom were born 14 children, 12 of whom are still living, all being adults, and all present during his last hours. Enlisted in cause of the Confederacy, being a member of Co. A, of the 2nd GA Infantry. He served until the close of the conflict and was slightly wounded twice, one of which he received at the battle of Chicksmauga. In 1867, Mr. and Mrs. Duke moved to MS, remaining there until 1871, when they moved to Ellis county, TX. Lived in that county until 1896 when they moved to Bosque county locating near Kopperl and later moving near Fowler. They moved a year or more ago to Fort Graham where Mr. Duke has since engaged in the general merchandise business. The following are the names and residences of his surviving children: Mrs. M. F. Dalton whose home is Hillsboro but who is residing with her mother at Fort Graham Deceased had been a member of the Baptist church since 1858."
