Notes
a. Note:   Obituary Columbus Dispatch June 6, 1952 and the Ohio State Journal Nancy Ann Mitchell was 101 years old when she died. Born Feb. 23, 1851 on Monday Creek in Hocking County to John Lyons and Eliza George. Annie was the youngest of nine children all deceased. Born during the administration of President Millard Filmore, she saw Abraham Lincoln when he visited Logan, was present when the first train ran from Nelsonville to Logan, she was familiar with the boats on the old Ohio Canal and the first kerosene lamp. The Mitchell family moved to Columbus in 1811 from Nelsonville. As recently as her last birthday she was an interested reader of newspapers, books, and magazines and enjoyed television and movies, particularly westerns as she was an ardent horsewoman. We read Annie had no recipe for a long life, but revealed that when she was 75 she had "just came to the conclusion I wasnt going to get any older" At 98 years old she fell and cracked her left arm and three ribs, she recovered without benefit of hospitalization, had suffered a broken hip in a fall several weeks ago, she made her home with daughter Edith the only living of her five children, also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
