a. Note:   Della was born in Paducak KY in 1899. According to her son Jack, she was raised in an orphanage there. After his parents divorced, he remembers going down to Ky to see the orphanage she was raised in. Jack said Della was married a number of times, approximate. 4 husbands. Her last was Virgil Scott, they had a daughter together named Faye Yvonne Scott, born in Jan or Feb....... 1941. Della committed suicide in June 1941 and is buried in Tucson AZ. Virgil lived in AZ, and was on leave from Army when Della committed suicide. One newspaper article said that Faye was her daughter and a different one stated her adopted daughter. "TUCSONAN'S DEATH DECLARED SUICIDE" Arizona Daily Star June 21, 1941 Mrs. Virgil M. Scott, 40, died at her home, 501 East Bryant street yesterday from gunshot wounds which C. W. Gardner, coroner, said were self inflicted. She had been in ill health for some time. Police say that she was alone at the time, her husband having gone across the street to a nearby grocery store. Coroner Gardner pronounced the case suicide and said that no inquest will be held. Mrs. Scott was the wife of Virgil M. Scott, former public utility employe, who was home on furlough from Camp Barkeley, where he is serving in the army. She also leaves a daughter, Faye Yvonne, 4-1/2 months old, and a son by a pervious marriage, Fred Hendrickson, 22, Chicago. She was a member of the Happy Day column of The Arizona Daily Star. Funeral services will be announced later by Reilly Undertaking Company. "SCOTT SERVICE IS PLANNED MONDAY" Arizona Daily Star 22 Jun 1941 Funeral services for Mrs. Della Scott, 40, who died Friday morning at her home, 501 East Bryant Street, will be conducted at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at the chapel of the Reilly Undertaking Company. Rev. R. Earl Dicus will officiate and Mrs. L. A. Lohse will be in charge of the music. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Scott leaves a husband, Virgil Scott; and adopted daughter, Faye Yvonne Scott; and a son Fred Hendrickson of Chicago. Her husband is serving in the U. S. Army at Camp Barkeley, Abilene, Texas. Mrs. Scott came to Tucson from Chicago about two months ago. Notes from her son, List that Della's foster parents were William & Alice Greene of Hwy 371, Pine River, MN. Orphanage records stated that Della left the home in 1917 with a Mrs. Alice Ward Greene, first for Chicago and then to Pine River MN.
