Janowitz <[email protected]@aol.com>; Havey homesteaded on Strawberry Creek, NW of Meeker, Rio Blanco Co., CO about 1918, on land later purchased by my grandfather, Floyd A. Brown. Filled in Glenwood Springs, CO July 17, 1924 #014821 that is a Certificate of Register at the land office there. It is made out to Harvey W. Hurd and is signed by (representative of) Calvin Coolidge, Pres. of the USA. His Patent # was 041548. There was a little log cabin up the "Hurd Gulch" behind my Grandpa's farm where I used to play when I was a kid. When Harvey sold out, he sold his place to my Grandfather. Source: Ralph Hurd; Says his Dad worked at Dinosaur Quarry, in Vernal, Uintah Co., Utah. Source: Doris Craig: She says Ralph's parents left Missouri around 1916. They left before Grandpa died in 1918 (Wallace William Hurd). Ralph came back here around 1927, not long before Grandma Ellen died.
