a. Note:   When a child, she (Minerva) moved with her parents to a farm near Paradise, Ill. Not long after she was married, she moved to wisconsin, where Grorge Cross died jan 3, 1848, and was buried at Willow Springs near Mineral Point, Wisconsin. At his death, his widow was left with three children, the youngest only two weeks old. She made her home with her parents, then with her brother, later with her children. In the Kansas City Journal of Jan. 12, 1922, her picture appeared with her daughter, Mary Jane roberts, 79 years old. and her daughter Martha McDaniels 75 years old, holding her birthday cake with 100 candles on it. At that time she had 14 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren. 1922: 17 June Meade Co., SD Death cert of Mrs. Minerva Cross: #81136, Reg. #787 female, white, widow of George Cross, born 9 Nov. 1821, Ind. age 100 yr, 7m 8d. It is spelled Menerva on the License and in the certification. The license was issued on 15 Dec 1841, but the ceremony was performed on 16 Dec 1841.
