Pulaski Co., Kentucky Malachi Cooper was one of the pioneer preachers of Pulaski Co, he gathered old Fishing Creek Church, about 1803, as is supposed, and ministered to it for many years. He was Moderator of the Cumberland River Assoc., as early as 1811, and represented his church in that body, as late as 1822. It is regretted that little else is known of him. A numerous posterity survives him, and among them several useful ministry. The first court was held in Somerset, Pulaski Co., Kentucky Tuesday June 25, 1799. Malachi Cooper was among the Jurors. Malachi and brother Edward came to Pulaski Co. Stanley Cooper son of Malachi was born in Pulaski Co., Kentucky. Anna wife of Malachi , died in Pulaski Co., Kentucky. Malachi died in Rush Co., Indiana Various spellings of his name: "Malleki" in his father's will: "Malachi" in the records of the Daughters of the American Revolution: "Malikiah" as a member of the Pulaski Co., KY., Grand Jury: "Malekiaha"," Mallachi" and "Makichi" in the probate records of his son Asa's estate: "Malicha" in the 1903 and 1904 histories writtern by his grandson James W. Cooper: and as "Malicha" in the North Carolina currency certificate that he received in 1782 for his Revolutionary War Service. He endorsed this document as "Malicha" which is his only known signature. All other documents had only his mark. It could be that this is the correct spelling of his name or the correct pronunciation. The answer to the spelling or pronunciation will never be known. Date of marriage varies from sources ( LDS software, above mentioned book) from 1781, 1782, 1783, or 1789. The above book lists her birth as about 1768 which would make her quite young to have been married in 1781.
