Downey. Ezekiel H. Downey Ezekiel H. Downey was born in Nicholas Co., KY, June 4, 1828 and departed this life February 5, 1907, aged 78 years, 8 months, and 1 day. He was the third of five children, three of who survive him, viz: Archibald Downey, of Abindon, Iowa, Sarah Cline, Abindon, Iowa, and MARTHA COOPER, of Harrison Co., MO. His parents removed to the territory of Iowa in 1843, where he continuously resided from that date. He was educated at the State University and at Keokuk Medical College, being admitted to practice in 1858. He served in the hospital corps of the fourth Iowa Cavalry during the civil war. He was married August 30, 1849, to Lucinda A. Hains. Of this union were born eight children, seven of whom survive their father. On the ninth day of January 1873, E. H. Downey was married to Mary C. Davis, of Davis Co., Iowa, to this union were born four children of whom two sons and one daughter survive their father. Previous to Mr. Downey's death he could count thirty grandchildren and eighteen great grand children. The funeral service was held at the Christian church Friday, February 8, at 2:30 P.M. and was conducted by Rev. Ferrall assisted by Elder M. Downing. The interment was make in the I. O. O.
