In 1898 he moved to a fa rm in Rut la nd w he re he farm ed unt il his retirement in 1940. He th en mov ed to Tru man w he re he liv ed until h is death. He is survived by one daughter, Lydia (Mrs. August W Il de ), by t hr ee g ra ndchildren and by two great-grandchildren; al so o ne sis ter, Mr s. W m.
