Notes
a. Note:   Died at a very young age according to today's life span. She was about 42 when she died of gall bladder complications. She was a tall woman. In the summer she would take the children, my mother (Josephine) was one of them and they would go to Cherry Creek by train and pick peas. They lived in huts provided for the pickers and traveled by horse and buggy (wagons) to the farmers. They awoke at 5 A.M. and the children who were not too happy about this cried. My mother started going at the age of 4. With 8 children, she was indeed a busy mother. Once a summer, molasses johnnycake-kuchens were baked for the entire week
