Notes
a. Note:   Konopka family name RKnopkaadded this on 5 Feb 2011: The name Konopka has its origins in the forest of Mazovia, Poland; its genesis dates back to 1421 when the family received a land grant as proprietors of the location Konopki. The grant was made by Wladyslaw Jogaila, King of Lithuania, Poland & Ruthenia. The locality was previously in East Prussia under control of the Teutonic Knights, a religious military order. Wladyslaw defeated the German Teutonic Knights in 1410 at the Battle of Grunwald. In addition to the land grant, this privilege included inclusion in the Nowina Clan. Men were expected to serve as officers in the Kings Army. In 1772 the partition area was returned to Germany. In 1880 the Prussia resettlement plan resulted in residents exile to the United States.
