a. Note:   A soldier in the Civil War, killed in battle. 1850 Census of Marshall County, Alabama HH-254 ["The Book" - John W. and Nancy (Owen) Walker and Their Descendants]. William D. and family lived in the Hebron community for a while after they married. His death is listed in the Bible that belonged to his parents: William D. Walker fell while fighting in the Confederate Service before Richmond July 23, 1862. The children and widow of William D. Walker were liv� ing in the household of William's father, John W. Walker, in 1870. John W. Walker died in January 1871, the next year. By 1870 the oldest children must have been in households of their own and only the three youngest children of William D. and Eliza were listed in the 1870 census of Marshall County, Alabama, as living in the household of their grandfather: Sanders, age 17; Caroline, age 16; and, Martha, age 13.
